I grew up surrounded by the aromas and flavours of my father's village gourmet shop in Umbria - the green heartland of Italy. I lived among burlap sacks of cocoa and roasted coffee, spice jar from all corners of the world and when in season baskets of priceless boletus and regional truffles. I believe growing up around such culinary delicacies sparked my inner curiosity for discovering the extraordinary when it comes to fine dining.

Throughout my professional marketing career in tourism in Italy, France and Spain I have been lucky to travel to many exciting and exotic destinations. No matter where my travels took me, I always ended up in the local markets discovering and tasting the typical products of the region and more often than not my suitcase would be overflowing with them.

After working as a wine consultant for several Ribera del Duero wineries in my adopted home country of Spain and considering my insatiable culinary curiosity, I decided to convert my life's passion into my business in 2003. Alacarta was created to share my love for wine and gastronomy with those who also believe that these products are inspiring cultural expressions of a region. At Alacarta we believe exploring, tasting and savouring a region's wine and culinary specialities constitutes another facet of travelling and experiencing a destination.

In order to fully prepare myself for the Alacarta endeavour, I dedicated significant time travelling and visiting the most prestigious wine regions of Spain, Italy and Portugal. I learned to taste olive oil, cheese, vinegars and other gourmet products while taking part in very memorable wine tastings with professional oenologists who are now my good friends.

Thanks to these experiences, I've combined my educational background in Marketing & Tourism with my acquired professional merit as a sommelier and culinary expert to offer you the highest quality in product and service at Alacarta.
